Drugs were discovered concealed inside two excavators that had arrived aboard the vessel Neptune Ace Tokyo from Santos, Brazil at the Port of Durban. The seizure was made on during a joint operation involving the Hawks' South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB), SARS Customs officials, Durban Visible Policing Operations (VPO) and the Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC). Based on an estimated street value of R400 000 per kilogram, the drugs are believed to be worth approximately R36 million.
